The "doo"

I had to share these pictures from when Paul woke up on Monday morning- quite the hair doo!

Lets go Mets

I haven't posted to the blog in a while so I got motivated to actually be the one that posts tonight.

(side note)
We are downstairs and Mommy just asked about going for a jog now and Paul said "no go after Paul go to bed" He knows how to work his Mom and Dad huh...

Anyway we have had a great couple of days here in PA. The other night the Mets were on ESPN for some reason so we watched the first 2 innings together on the couch with our hats as I tried to explain why the Mets batters never hit the ball and the Mets fielders never catch it.

Over the last week or so Kaitlyn has taken a really keen interest in our table food at dinner so we have started to try to work with her on some baby cereal.

Sleeping and Playing

After a very fun and relaxing weekend, we're all rested for the week. Saturday night Mommy and Little Paul headed to the Gburg Fireman's Carnival- after a fun dinner at Friendly's together. This was quite an exciting evening, and after three rides (a purple jeep which went around, the ferris wheel and a school bus which went up and down and even made my stomach turn) little Paul was done... but asked me to buy more tickets anyway- which we donated to one of his friends from daycare who was also there and loving the rides a bit more!
Here are two funny pictures of Kaitlyn sleeping- nighttime:
and naptime:

And here we are relaxing on the couch together this afternoon:
Another important note- our dishwasher is fixed (hooray!). -Leigh Anne (our internet is tortoise speed tonight and Paul was logged in before....)

Five Years Later...

Last Thursday we celebrated our five year wedding anniversary! After a nice dinner with Gram and Uncle Ryan we watched our wedding video- little Paul seemed to understand some of it (we only showed him the actual ceremony and video from the Chapel- the late night dancing will not be shown to him!) and even pointed the Chapel out on our way to and from daycare on Friday. How quickly the time has flown by....

Happy Father's Day

Today we celebrated Paul's third father's day- ironically, it was the day before Father's Day last year when we learned that Kaitlyn would be joining our family! Unfortunately we spent part of our day at Lowe's looking at dishwashers (and riding tractors for Paul- he had a blast, of course)- ours has a nice puddle of water in it when it finishes running- and not having a dishwasher is NOT an option in our house :) So we're resorting to removing the excess water ourselves until a repair man can check it out.... daddy did successfully remove the drain valve yesterday to look for a blockage (I got very, very scared when I saw the "Do It Yourself" book come out)- but he managed to put it back together successfuly.
So pictures... breakfast after Paul and Daddy's Sunday trip to the "donut store".
Kaitlyn playing this afternoon- and almost rolling onto her belly.
Hanging out with Mom and kids.
Gram and Kaitlyn chatting with little Paul last night.
We enjoyed a nice dinner tonight with Gram and Uncle Ryan- hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sunday night news...

A few pictures from the weekend- Mommy having fun with Kaitlyn on Friday morning(before Kaitlyn's abundance of snot and fever set in... which fortunately seems to have passed):Little Paul enjoying some time with daddy and Uncle Ryan Friday night (note the beer can... wonder who placed it next to his chair?)- and then the "three friends in the bed" as described by little Paul on Saturday morning.

Weekend in Review

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend- we got to relax, have fun and enjoyed some family time. Kaitlyn also spent some time this morning at daycare (some of it with me) as she adjusts to wonderful teachers and a busy envrionment. I head back to work next Monday, so we're all "practicing" getting out of the house each morning and Kaitlyn will be spending more time at daycare each day to get adjusted (and so that we can as well!).
On Saturday, Kaitlyn decided to wake up very early (before 5:30am!) so she was almost ready to get back in bed when little Paul woke up- so she joined him for a bit.
Little Paul and I made some rice krispie treats (after a haircut for him!) which Kaitlyn and I brought to a picnic at my colleague's house Saturday afternoon. As you can see, Paul was amazed with how the krispies would stick anywhere once the marshmallow goo was on them.
I also tried to get some new family pictures- a nice one of daddy and Kaitlyn. And then Paul joined in and gave Kaitlyn a big hug- don't worry, it looks much worse than it was. This was a very gentle hug... albeit near her face! He seems excited that his sister is going to be down the hall from him in the "baby room" at daycare and helped to drop her off this morning with us.
And since it was finally not raining, we got out little Paul's pool... which is now WAAAAYYY to small for him, but he didn't seem to care. Plus, he seemed very excited to turn on and off the hose by himself.... which we tried to limit as to not use all of the water in our well!

Another edition- are they siblings?

little Paul and Kaitlyn at 3 1/2 months old...

Why I have been doing laundry every day...

Here's a summary of some of the reasons I have a 2nd load of was going today:
5:35- Kaitlyn spit up on my 2nd shirt of the day (she was in her fourth)
6:25- Kaitlyn used her changing pad as a diaper while getting ready for bed- with a big smile on her face
6:45- Paul spilled his vitamin on the place mat (as well as watermelon juice)
7:15- Paul, who decreed to us over the weekend that he did not want to wear diapers anymore, was sitting on the potty and let loose- spraying my shirt, pants, the floor, trash can, his shorts and socks... yes, some did even make it in the potty (he had a look of both confusion and excitement on his face)

And the reason why I'll keep Oxi Clean in business: on little Paul's monitor I could hear him lying in bed practicing "counting" - "1-2-3-5-7-8-11-13" as he was falling asleep.... just adorable.

My favorite toy

If you're near our living room and Kaitlyn is awake, you'll probably hear the tinkling/jingling sound of the bunny hanging from Kaitlyn's play gym as she swats (and now grabs!) it.

Regardless of where it is hanging, she'll always try to find it.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Here's the latest from the Redferns- allergies are officially awful. After doctor's visits today by Paul Jr., Kaitlyn and myself, the two adults in our family are now getting treated for allergies to "tree pollen" this year- the culprit behind our sore throats, raspy voices and abundent phlegm. Kaitlyn checked out okay and seems to have fared the best of all of us the last two weeks!
We did manage to have a few good times over the weekend- little Paul's friend Elizabeth Smith came over (plus we got to hang out with her mom and dad!):

We ended the weekend with some watermelon...mmmm....

Paul spent most of the weekend in his new sand and water table- somehow no pictures were taken of him, though. The water side quickly became a sandy swamp. And we also had some visits from Uncle Ryan. This of course meant more trouble for Ryan as he was Paul's required playmate- making forts in the playroom and "pancakes" on the pillows. Here is Paul tucking Uncle Ryan into bed near their fort:

Big news- little Paul actually said "Ryan" tonight- rather than "ry ry". First time for the full four letters to be individually pronounced!
