Paul's First Haircut

On Tuesday afternoon mommy and Paul went to get Paul's first haircut- we were waiting for a day when Paul had a great day at school and was ready for a new experience. Despite daddy's wishes, we didn't go to the barber shop but headed to a "girly salon" - which was great as the gals there were so nice. Paul did a great job- no tears or even a lot of fear; he wasn't showing a lot of excitement either but will pat his head when you ask about his haircut. Fortunately there was a woman getting her hair blown dry at one point, so that provided plenty of entertainment for Paul to watch while the back of his hair was getting clipped. He even touched the clippers (as did mommy) - I guess we'll be back in a few months for haircut #2!

Paul's new work bench

Thanks to our wonderful neighbors, The Burkes, Paul has been enjoying one of their former toys- a great work bench! Although he has to stand on his tippy-toes to reach some of the gadgets, the "table saw" which makes noise has been a favorite.

You also may notice that Paul wears this shirt alot.. his favorite color is BLUE (blewh), so whenever Paul is getting dressed in the morning he asks for this shirt...

Hanging out downstairs

Paul III has been spending more time downstairs since it's cool and it has been so hot outside. We have had a tough week here at the Redfern house - Daddy has strep throat and has been home from work most of the week. Good thing Paul has all these markers to make pictures to give him. I loved his face in this picture.

150th post

Wow- this is our 150th post on the Redfern Family Blog. Sorry we didn't get more pictures up this week, so here are a few fun ones from life with Paul this week.

It's been hot recently- why not cool down with a popsicle at the end of the day.
Paul has also recently decided that, on some nights, he wants to read his own story (which, of course, is You're My Little Lovebug which we read every night) while sitting on his PAUL bench and that he will give mommy her own story to read (to herself) in the rocking chair.
Paul's attempts at forward rolls- he can get about 95% of the way.
Paul has been trying to use his fork and spoon a bit more... some days with more success than others. This particular night he was a fork-using fanatic.

Pillow Running Part 2

Uncle Ryan and Paul III did some more pillow running today and Paul started to be able to say "Ry Ry", you can also see him playing what is sure to be an olympic sport one day - throwing magnets at the fridge.

Chocolate and Banana

What a great combination and a yummy snack on a hot day- a frozen banana with some chocolate on it! Bananas are one of Paul's favorite foods, and he was almost surprised at the difference in this "special" "nannah". Paul's bottom molars have started to come in, so this was an especially yummy snack.

50 Years at Green Point

We had a wonderful week at Moose Lodge on Raquette Lake with Gram and BB- and learned that this is the 50th summer for the Bennett family on Green Point. Mommy and Daddy made a sign (camp-style) for the Fourth of July picnic at Gram and BB's leantoo (with all of our neighbors) to celebrate- here's BB and his brother, Uncle Steve:

Paul really enjoyed all of the fresh air and playing outside. The first boat ride across the lake on Sunday was not a hit, so we made sure to take him out a few other times in the boat... by the end of the week he knew where the key went, how to move the throtle and to steer.... oh my...
He also discovered the John Deere Gator... and anytime he went outside would run towards the barn saying "rihde, rihde, rihde"... we gave in a few times but also had to practice not getting what you want all the time (do I need to say that didn't go well all the time?).

Paul also helped Gram to make some very yummy breakfasts- here they are making blueberry muffins.
