Aunt Katherine Comes To Visit

Aunt Katherine came to visit this weekend and we had a really fun time. She did a great job playing golf, finishing puzzles, and making different creations from playdough. Here is a picture with both the kids smiling from ear to ear!

Kaitlyn's first big girl bath

It took a little while for Kaitlyn's belly button to heal, but last week she got her first bath in the "big" bathtub... not yet ready for the big ocean in the real bathtub.

A family picture...

Not quite... little Paul was too excited and ran towards the camera- leaving daddy smiling in the background and Kaitlyn staring out the window.
We also went to Kaitlyn's one month dr's appointment Wednesday (although she is somehow already five weeks old!)- she weighed in at 9 lbs 6 oz. and is 21" long.

Some fun visitors

Paul III and Kaitlyn had some special company for a few days while daddy was at a conference- Nana Redfern! Uncle Ryan also visited for a night after a golf tournament in Gettysburg- we all got to see him play (Kaitlyn slept for two holes and then went home with mommy)Below is one of my favorite pictures was from Sunday morning when Little Paul was quite happy to wake up Nana- only to get tickled by Curious George!

A very concerned shopper

Kaitlyn and I did a little shopping with Gram on Saturday... apparently she was unsure of what the morning had in store for her:

Hoop Time with the Sowers

On Friday we had a fun visit with the Sowers family- Paul had a great time playing with Brian, and the rest of us enjoyed the basketball games. Although Paul and Brian didn't necessarily play "together" all that much, we did capture a few pictures.
This is the progression of what happens when you try to take a picture of two 2-year olds:

How to feed a baby

Little Paul has been a good big brother so far and has surprised us by feeding his own baby bear. Before Kaitlyn arrived we told Paul that this bear (who actually as a diaper) could be 'his baby' so that he could practice being gentle with a baby, etc. Little did we know that Paul would decide that his baby was hungry over the weekend.
Here is little Paul's interpretation of how to feed a baby "Paul milk" (just like mommy gives the baby "mommy milk").
Step 1- feed the baby (in the same spot with the same pillows as mommy- he got everything together all by himself). Step 2- burp the baby (if the baby was indeed Kaitlyn, she would let out a burp that would put some college students to shame).Step 3- You can also give the baby a bottle of milk.

Reading with mommy

Paul and mommy enjoyed reading Highlights magazine the other night. Here Paul is finding the 'hidden items' in the picture- he actually did quite well!

Happy One Month Birthday

Somehow it's already Kaitlyn's one month birthday today- which also happens to be her four week mark as well. How time has flown by!

Dinner with Daddy, Paul and Kaitlyn

During a yummy dinner last night from one of mommy and daddy's friends, mommy thought it would be good to get a picture of everyone at the dinner table. Paul had wanted to sit next to mommy and Kaitlyn was actually awake (and sat next to daddy, as Paul told us).

Paul showing off his good smile.

More trees

Thanks to the Fairbanks/Davidson clan we were able to plant 7 more trees with Gram's help this morning. Here are a few pictures...
Paul showed off the tree he helped to plant (lots of DIGGING!).

Redfern Family Fun Day- Take One

On Wednesday we kept little Paul home from daycare and had our first "Redfern Family Fun Day"- a little tradition we'll probably start doing on a random weekday every now and then so that we can "play all day long" as little Paul would say (rather than trying to fit in random chores with our weekend play).

We started the day with pancakes (little Paul's request) and spent the day playing around the house (little Paul even got to "help" mommy with the real hammer and screwdriver to hang up pink "KAR" letters in Kaitlyn's room), eating grilled cheese and tomato soup (daddy's request) and ended the day with a trip to the park- although it took us 3 parks to find one which was open! Fortunately little Paul was very patient and understood that you can't go into a park for which the gates are closed (whew!).

From the play doh adventures- daddy made the snowman and Paul just seemed to enjoy playing with a big blob of play doh.
Tummy time with Paul and Kaitlyn.Relaxing at the end of the day.

A weekend torturing Uncle Ryan...

It's amazing that little Paul's uncles still visit him... all he does is make them chase him outside, dig in the dirt, play golf (which did make Uncle Ryan proud after getting snowed on at Pinehurst) and play with him nonstop- this time he even decided Uncle Ryan's girlfriend was subject to the same treatment.

Hanging out with daddy

Kaitlyn and daddy were spending some quality time together the other night...

What our children seem to do best....

For right now, this is what Kaitlyn does most of the day (which I know will not last)...And Paul seemed to like sleeping sideways last night. What you can't see is that his hands are under his head as if he were lounging at the beach...

A fun weekend

What a fun weekend- there was tower building, a visit from Aunt Kerry, some sunshine on Saturday and then a little bit of snow on Sunday, a visit from Gram and some of mommy's friends from work. Paul has continued to be a great big brother and is getting very good at holding and kissing Kaitlyn (although he seems to have his back molars coming in- good timing!).And daddy's big highlight was getting to see the Bullets win the conference basketball tournament yesterday!
