Ten Days Old..

Kaitlyn got checked out at the doctor's today and has surpassed her birth weight and is now up to 7 lb 14 oz. She and mommy have had a good week at home- we met daddy for lunch on Wednesday, had our first trip to the grocery store (leaving mommy at home makes for many trips to the kitchen for snacks) and even had our first shopping trip today with Gram to buy some "girl" clothes to mix into her wardrobe (which even daddy wanted us to do... a dangerous precedent). The pictures below are from little Paul's hillarious raid of the leftover spinach dip from last weekend's visit by Nana and PopPop. He pulled over a kitchen chair and went to town- using a spoon to dig out as much dip as he could. Of course, he still had plenty of room left for dinner (and seconds!).

At home with mommy...

Kaitlyn and mommy have been enjoying some quiet days at home- which means mommy can snap pictures during the (few) minutes when Kaitlyn is awake.

Pretty Women

Over the weekend we made a quick highlight video of Kaitlyn's first week. It has been such a wonderful week talking to friends, family visiting, and getting to know our new addition.

Tonight was really special as it was just the 4 of us and we watched Bob the Builder with Paul in my chair with me and Kaitlyn in Mom's chair with her. Enjoy

Apple or orange juice

This is from a few weeks ago when Uncle Chris came to visit and Paul couldn't decide what juice he had...

Big boy in the little girl's bathrobe...

I don't think these pictures need much more of an explanation- Paul took a bath last night and wanted to wear the smaller ducky bathrobe (which will now be Kaitlyn's)...More pictures to come of our first days at home with Kaitlyn- she's doing great!

Welcome home baby Kate

We welcomed home baby Kate today. Paul did a great job being a good big brother. You can see him holding Kaitlyn on and playing with her in a "gentle" way. Before he went to sleep he had to come out and give her one more kiss goodnight. Here are some photos from today.

Yesterday Leigh-Anne took some video when Kaitlyn was awake. It's amazing how alert she has been.

Paul meet Kaitlyn

Paul got to meet his sister for the first time this afternoon. I think he is taking his role as big brother seriously. He was very nice and offered her an animal cookie.

Welcome Video

Here is a quick video from last night where everyone can see Kaitlyn.

Welcome Kaitlyn Anne!!!

At 6:31 pm we welcomed Kaitlyn Anne Redfern into the world. She burped, farted, and after her bath had a booger already. She was 7 pounds 10.5 ounces, 20 inches long, and seems to have a dimple on her right cheek. She has chubby arms and legs but overall is doing great. Mommy did a wonderful job and is recovering well too. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes here are a few pictures from the day...

Looking Cool and Driving Fast

Paul has taken a liking to "driving" the basket we use for newspaper recycling- he grabs some keys, hops in his car, and drives- sometimes "to work" or "back home." A few days ago he decided to also wear mommy's sunglasses while driving- apparently it must have been sunny during his ride!

Valentine's Day

Yesterday we celebrated Valentine's Day all day long. We had bagels and eggs for breakfast when we opened up our cards. You can see Paul enjoying his cards below. We had turkey sandwiches for lunch and Mommy made a cheeseburger casserole for dinner. We played outside and made pizzas inside and told Baby Fern II that we wanted him or her to "wiggle out"

Drawing in the Bathtub

Tonight in the bath Paul wanted to draw a picture of mommy- so the green drawing on the left is his very proudly designed "mommy." He drew a hat, eyes, a nose (although "two" noses were necessary), arms, legs, shoes and a belly button for mommy- and drew them in the correct areas as well!
Prior to this drawing, daddy had drawn his version of mommy- little arms, little legs and a big belly..... hmm......

Warm sunny days... with a bit of snow still left...

Although these are from last weekend, we spent a lot of time outside this weekend enjoying the warm weather - but we still had some snow piles around the driveway and yard to keep Paul very entertained.
He loves to "move snow" and had a blast using his tractor to move bigger piles of snow (sometimes with some help). He also decided to eat a bit of snow every now and then- but only "chleen snow"- not like this big piece of ice/snow.Apparently this snowball snack was a bit chilly...

Still in love with Cheez Its

As Paul has spent a good amount of this week under the weather (cough/fever/turned ear infection- but he's on the mend), we haven't gotten any new pictures. Since the cheez-it pictures from a few months ago were winners, Mommy thought everyone might enjoy these from early in January when she let Paul not only pick his snack- but to also get to pick his cheez-its right from the box. Our lives are WILD!

Swimming lessons

This Friday was our last swimming lesson. We decided to give daddy a break and let him be the official videographer. Here is a video of some of the highlights from our trip to the pool.
