You know something is wrong when...

1. Paul Jr.: You pull into the driveway at 6:30pm (after picking up your daughter's medicine for croup, a fever-cough combo) and there is an empty Troegs box covering the septic sand mound pvc pipe which your wife ran over with the mower on Saturday....clearly her attempts to repair it are not going well.

2. Leigh Anne: You have to make a second trip to Home Depot in two days to get parts associated with the problem in #1 during which the nice young man helping you purchase the correct pieces of pvc pipe suggests that you also buy an orange flag so that you don't mow over the pvc pipe cover next time. The picture below was taken on the first outing to Home Depot:
3. Paul III: Mommy says it's okay to make cookies for the third straight night.... she must be tired, but this is great!

4. Kaitlyn: I got to stay home with mommy today and daddy's my buddy tomorrow, but I didn't really feel all that great... talk about a waste of a day home to play all by myself!

PS- Kaitlyn has some medicine to help her cough and hopefully help her sleep better tonight, and we'll see if her fever decides to go away after two days tomorrow. And the pvc pipe problem was repaired tonight once we pried open the sealant container- which left me with at least one blister and two bruised hands.

Chillin' on the Couch

Kaitlyn will sometimes wander over to the couch and reach "up" (with some "uhp uhp" sounds to correspond) to indicate that she wants to hang out on the couch- just like mommy and daddy do with their books or magazines (which we don't get to do very often!).

And although her big brother doesn't seem to enjoy the 'sitting still' concept very much, we enjoy every minute in which one of them insn't moving at full speed!

Watermelon and a Backpack

Mother's day went by very quickly for all of us, and the only picture we got from the day was of Paul III gearing up for our mother's day 'cake'- a watermelon cake! We had a great family breakfast at Perkins (mommy's choice- no cooking or clean up!) and then daddy made a salmon (yuck!), chicken, tortellini and green bean dinner for two "Bennett" moms- Gram and I.
We also got some laughs as Kaitlyn proudly walked around with Paul's new backpack...

It's May already?

Somehow the past few weeks have flown by in our family, and we're all excited that late spring (and summer!) are ahead of us. Both Paul and I have been very busy at work and our time at home in the evenings and on the weekends has seemed too short to get everything done.
A few pictures to catch up on life at the Redferns...
Enjoying the leftover birthday cake from daddy's 32nd birthday (yes, that was April 17th, so this is an old picture).
Paul pleaded for a 'vacuum' he can use (apparently the big one we got with hepa filters for his dust allergy is cool, but too big for him)- he was way too excited about this purchase! Kaitlyn also seems to like to model whatever behavior (good and bad!) she sees, including helping me to clean up after dinner:
Kaitlyn is also finally feeling better after about 4 days of fever, then 2 days of crankiness and eventually a rash- which apparently also comes with body aches, so she's finally back to about 90% today.
