Nasty Cold-2, Redferns- 1

Little Paul (and now maybe daddy) have come down with a nasty cold and cough. Little Paul slept in quite a bit this morning. It struck mommy that, as a parent, a morning where you could "sleep in" is spent worrying with every passing minute about just how sick your late-sleeping toddler will be when they wake up.

Little Paul spent a good part of the morning relaxing in his cool glow in the dark PJ's (thanks, Aunt Kerry!) and enjoyed some toast in the living room while watching some kids tv shows this morning. Normally by 9:30 on a Sunday he's played with all of his favorite toys and ridden his cars outside... we'll be lucky if all of that gets done at any point today. Needless to say the rest of our day hasn't been all that exciting, but everyone seems to be doing okay- what a way to spend a long weekend :(

Birthday wrap up and busy week

What a week- after a 3-day weekend celebration for mommy's birthday, it was first year move-in day at Gettysburg - check out some of the cool pictures and videos that Mom and Dad have been working on:
http://www.gettysburg.edu/student_life/orientation/2008/index.dot

You can also see some of the fun we have been having with birthdays and visitors below-
Paul learned how to blow out birthday candles- the concentration on his face was priceless. He didn't master singing "happy birthday" (despite Gram's efforts) but now pretends to blow out a candle if you say birthday, cake or candle.

We celebrated Mommy's 30th birthday all last weekend (and even last Monday) with lots of great dinners and company. Gram was home from the lake and Aunt Char was visiting as well- what a great time! Gram and Aunt Char were sneaky and even took some of the birthday decorations to mommy's office as a surprise (which it sure was!). There were some good versions of this picture taken, but daddy's face in the one above made us decide to post it. I'm sure you can tell why....

Paul is showing off his grill (still a favorite) and mommy asked him to "smile for the camera"- and this is what I got! I guess we have to work on that...

What I learned on my summer vacation

As a wrap-up from two wonderful weeks of vacation, here is a summary of the important life lessons Paul learned...

That Uncle Ryan (rhy rhy) and Uncle Chris (chee) will always let you win in car races... and steal the last bites of their dinner.

How to make really good macaroni and cheese (nu nu's) with Nanna (check out Paul's cool apron)

BB can teach you how to scoop dirt (dhirt) and rocks (rhocs) with a front end loader (tractor) toy- and then show you with his own tractor.
Driving the boat (bhoat) is tons of fun- possibly Paul's favorite part of the trip! in this picture his is sitting with daddy but saying "boat"

While mommy is trying to set up a family pictureyou can get Gram and BB to sing "wheels on the bus", with hand motions!

When you help Nanna and Pop Pop water the flowers all day, you get to wear ALL of your shoes... since watering your feet is apparently a good thing.

More pics from NH

The weather has improved here in NH and we have been able to spend more time outside. You can see here a picture of Paul III helping to water the plants outside and in the spirit of the Olympics we had the opening ceromonies of the Redfern Olympics yesterday. You can see team red here carrying the Mets flag. In day one of the fishing competition Team Blue (Dad and Uncle Chris) took home the gold. Today starts the golf competition followed by the bean bag toss.

Falling asleep???

Today was our first nice day in NH so after breakfast and a little temper tantrum we went down to the lake to check out grandpa redfern's ellow (yellow) boat. In the middle of the ride Paul fell asleep. Can you beleive it. We are looking forward to seeing Uncle Chris tonight.

Uncle Ryan loses

Uncle Ryan raced Paul III tonight in NH. Since it was a rainy day we stayed inside most of the day but were able to race under the cover of the garage. As you can see Paul III has his red car and Ryan was on the horse.

Summer Vacation Part One

Here are some pictures from our first week of vacation in Raquette Lake, New York. You can see Paul's first kayak ride, a picture swimming at the beach, with his life jacket, Jimmy Buffett night, playing with BB, and going to bed with Gram in his new moose pjs.
