Mr. Friendly

I thought our readers might enjoy this simple story of our silly son... we are learning that Paul likes to say "hi" to everyone he walks by, including waving at cars that may drive by our house when we're outside or when we're out in town. He will wave at everyone and anyone, and hopes for some type of reciprocated hello.

Background- the coordinator of the Growing Place, Miss Sherry, has her office is on the right immediately as you walk in. Every morning Paul walks right into Miss Sherry's office (even if other adults are there possibly having important conversations) to wave hello and will not leave until he gets one back. The lure of breakfast in his own room often gets him to keep going. Today as we were getting ready to leave daycare, he walked into Miss Sherry's office to say goodbye but she wasn't there- so he made his "all done/all gone" sign- and seemed ready to check out every corner of her office until he found her. Fortunately she came around the corner after we told Paul he would get to see Miss Sherry tomorrow- so he did get to give his goodbye wave. I'm sure this scene will repeat itself many times in the coming months!

Lots of hugs

Paul has recently learned how to give real hugs- much to the delight of mommy and daddy. This adds to his sign of "I love you" and just about makes us melt (which is good these days as Paul sometimes decides that he wants to take all morning to get down the stairs safely, get on a coat, hat and mittens).

We tried to capture a picture of a good "hug" but Paul was much more interested in trying to steal daddy's glasses. Tonight daddy had a school board meeting so mommy and Paul stopped by Gram and BB Bennett's house for dinner where Paul played in the snow- or maybe it was BB making snowballs and playing.....

Weekend Update

The Redferns had a great weekend. Uncle Dave Aunt Angie, and Brian James Sowers came to visit as well as Matt Rothenberger for the Gettysburg Men's Basketball Alumni game. The boys had a good time reliving the past on Saturday night and stayed out past 11 pm. The boys had a lot of fun playing together including basketball where they traded off dunks on Sunday morning. Here is a picture from dinner tonight of Paul finishing an ice cream sandwich.

Weekend Wrap Up

We had a great weekend. Friday night we had dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Bennett at our house. We enjoyed breaded chix, rice, and salad with of course ice cream and fresh cookies for dessert. Saturday Daddy spent the morning doing the taxes and then saw "Banner Day" at the college. Paul III and Mommy met us at the hotel for some food and then we met Grandma Bennett for dinner at Perkins. Paul III was well behaved and eat almost all of his grilled cheese.

Sunday was another big day with lots of playing and cleaning up around the house. Then we visited one of Paul's friends from school Gabe for dinner with him and his parents. What a great night. Paul III is now asleep and Mommy and Daddy are resting on the couch.

Happy Valentine's Day

Today the color of the day in school was pink so daddy wore a pink shirt and as you can see by this photo Paul III wore a pink polo shirt. Mommy spent the day in DC at a school talking to 10th graders about the college search. Hope you all have a good Valentine's Day!

Fun with Julia and Matty

Mommy and I went to visit her friends Kelly, Brian, and Kerry in Baltimore last night. I had tons of fun playing with Julia's toys- she shared them so nicely with me. I also got to meet Matthew, who, at least for now, I can move faster than :)

Mommy also got to go out for a girl's night once all of us were asleep- what a great time. She is so lucky to have such great friends.

Sometimes dinner can be messy...

I'm still enjoying some of the Superbowl Chili and had some for dinner tonight...mmm. As you can see, I also wanted to share the chili with my nose, forehead and hair. When mommy laughed that I had "food in my hair," I of course reached both hands (covered in food) to touch my hair- I'm such a good boy!

An ear update- mommy took me to the ENT on Wednesday as I was still having some snot-colored drainage out of both my ears. The doctor gave me more ear drops, saline for my nose and a round of antibiotics to see if that will stop the "goop." Otherwise, we go back in two weeks and may have to talk about taking my tubes out- the doctor is afraid that I may be reacting to the silicon - which is what the tubes are. Then I might get titanium ear tubes! Mommy and daddy are both really, really hoping that the "goop" clears up and I don't have to go back for another surgery. Today my ears weren't goopy, so mommy is trying not to get excited that it may be clearing up.

The Giants won the Superbowl!

After several long days of trying to get rid of daddy's excess energy and excitement around the Superbowl, we got to watch the Giants win on Sunday night!! Although I was in bed just after kickoff, I could hear daddy and Gram Bennett cheering from the living room in the last quarter (they actually stayed relatively quiet- mommy was impressed).Daddy and mommy had a few friends over and I even got to play with their sons- 2 older friends from school, Gabe (a little over 3) and Jack (almost 4). Okay, play "with" may not be the right word, but I showed them all around my house. We still have all of our Giants signs up (thanks, Grandma Redfern!) and I had to wear my Giants jersey to daycare on Monday- again! Mommy washed my jersey three times over the weekend so I could wear it on Friday, Sunday and Monday.

I love my building blocks

Mommy came home from the store the other day with some Mega Blocks, and boy, did I have fun with them. I think daddy enjoyed them as well....

Apparently there is some big football game on today that daddy keeps talking about. I had my Eli Manning jersey on until mommy and I went outside to play and I sat down in the wet grass- so it's already in the wash so I can wear it after my nap. Go Giants!
