Christmas Bloopers

When mommy asks you to smile, this is the correct face to make... If Uncle Ry wants me to show him my belly, I'm going to make him show me his belly...
If Uncle Chris makes a funny face, I'm going to do the same thing back...
I loved all the food that was on the table before dinner- and I sold out PopPop since whenever I was asked who was giving me spinach dip, I replied "PopPop."
When you know a present is for you (like this one- the ball pit), you protect it at all costs.

What a Christmas...

We had a wonderful Christmas with our family. We'll share some of our memories with pictures over the next few days, but here are a few to start things off.
Mommy, daddy and Paul on Christmas Eve at our house.
At Gram and BB's on Christmas Day- more trucks! Thanks, Aunt Char and Charles! This was one of the first pictures of Paul in his dog ball pit from his Uncles.... he spent at least thirty minutes rolling around in it once he figured out how fun it was (good thing we saved this to open on the 26th!). More pictures of the ball pictures to come in the Christmas bloopers post mommy has in mind. This morning Paul beelined directly from bed at 7:10am to the living room so he could "cut" up some food. He is soooooo proud of this wooden food that is velcro-ed together that he can cut with a wooden knife.

Snowman without snow

We had a good time hanging out and having fun today. Our Friends John and Kathleen and their son Jack came over to enjoy a shrimp dinner. We were supposed to have snow last night but we woke up this morning with none. Paul drew this picture of a snowman in the driveway and was ready to go for ride in his sleigh.

Christmas take 1- with a toddler, of course!

On Saturday morning we celebrated the first of our Christmas gatherings. Paul had spent Friday night at Gram and BB's house (translation- date night for mommy and daddy!) and then we had a scruptious breakfast and had fun opening presents.
We learned that Paul is indeed a toddler... which meant that at moments during the morning he was not pleased with everything going on.

Example 1- he got wonderful snowman sheets but couldn't understand why the pillowcase didn't have a pillow in it.
Example 2- there is one toy you want to play with- and only that toy. Saturday it was some play doh from his teachers at daycare, which he decided he wanted to play with in the living room (away from the rest of us).
Example 3- Paul wanted to help open EVERY present.
Some other fun pictures- Daddy's "Moose Lodge" sweatshirt for use at the camp.
Outside getting some fresh (and very cold!) air- Paul was pointing to Gram and BB's reindeer that we HAD to go look at together.More blocks! You can never have enough..

Christmas preparations...

As Christmas is now only seven days away (hooray!), we had two Christmas preparations which we were able to capture on camera tonight-Little Paul's Christmas haircut and
Paul helping to lick some Christmas cards for his teachers at school on which he had done some very colorful drawings.

Christmas Tree Hunt- 2008

On Saturday morning (yes, in the bitter cold) we headed out to find the perfect Christmas tree. Of course Leigh Anne made us head to the cut-it-yourself area where they fortunately had a sharp saw for us to use. Here are daddy and Paul scoping out the perfect tree...Ah ha! We found it- probably the 2nd tree we looked at. Leigh Anne didn't waste any time cutting it down. Time to take the tree to the car...
Of course our tree was up and had lights on it within the hour... what else would you expect?
At least we weren't this family (who daddy caputred a picture of without them knowing) who were lugging around two trees and several children... oh wait- that may be us in a few years.

Holiday Party

Tuesday night Leigh-Anne and Gram took Paul III to the Gettysburg Holiday party. Here are a few photos from the fun event!

Matching Daddy and Paul

This morning daddy was very excited when he realized that Paul had clothes to match his own outfit... and convinced his son to wear the same thing- a white sweater, dark jeans and brown shoes.

It's Christmas time in Aspers...

You have probably heard of the song it's Christmas time ... in the city...

Well the last 2 days have proven to be Christmas time at the Redfern House. We got home from NJ and thanksgiving on Saturday and couldn't make it past the Lowe's in Carlisle before buying paraphernalia. We now have a 7 foot high snowman family in a sleigh inflated on our back hill, 4 reindeer on our front lawn, and all the in house decorations done.

Paul III woke me up on Sunday morning by playing all of our (yes we have many) singing stuffed Christmas toys. You can see him below lining them up on the bed.

And of course at breakfast on Sunday morning what did he wear on his head?

200 Post - Happy Thanksgiving

We started this blog on Sunday April 8, 2007 and now 200 posts later it is still going strong. We traveled to NJ to visit with Nana and Pop Pop during this holiday. Paul has learned a few new words on the trip so far including the words to the song "To grandmothers house we go" as well as "Pancake house" We enjoyed a great thanksgiving dinner with Aunt Mary Ellen and Uncle Bill and our cousins Will and Katherine.

Uncle Chris came over this morning and gave Paul III his birthday gift since he couldn't make the birthday party. As you can see Paul III loved it and has already started moving blocks with the battery operated "bucket".

Yes that is a blob of ice cream in Paul III's left hand eating dessert on thanksgiving night.

A family photo after dinner last night.

Paul was playing with a back massager and got a real kick out of everyone watching him.

Playing with legos with Aunt Katherine and Nana.

Pop Pop eating a "thumper" with Uncle Bill looking on.

Loving Uncle Chris.

Thanksgiving at the Bennetts

Tonight we had dinner at Gram and BB's house for an early thanksgiving. Earlier in the day we had a good time working in the yard digging up dirt and planting some mums out back. In the last picture you can see Paul III trying to "smile".

LYLA and chrissy

Aunt LYLA and Aunt chrissy came to visit this weekend from NYC. LYLA is in all caps because Paul clearly loved to say her name over and over again. While he, struggled with Aunt chrissy. We had a great weekend with Paul and the girls as we did puzzles, did some drawings and played outside.

How do you give milk to a pumpkin?

Paul wanted to use a cup tonight for his milk without his sippy cup top, and it went quite well. After a little spill, the pumpkins on his placemat even got to have a little milk!

Building BIG Towers

Paul continued his tower-buidling over the weekend and made more "biiihhgg" towers (as he describes them). Uncle Ryan and Nana were great construction helpers.
